My Reading List

Today at Kelly's Korner she is asking about bloggers' book/reading list.
That sounded fun to me so I thought I would join in!!

Some books on my list will not shock anyone but others might be a little surprising.
I love Twilight. The whole series. I have read all four books multiple times. I don't even care to admit that. These books have been so. much. fun. Once I started reading them I was obsessed. Everywhere I went there were Twilight fans. I loved that my friends and I would get together to watch the movies. I loved meeting my friends for the midnight showings. I mean I felt like a teenager again. Without all the issues! So fun!!!

I have read all the Emily Giffin books. Something Borrowed is the first and probably my favorite. I felt like the characters were real. No I am not crazy but they were believable. Like someone you might really know. Unlike certain vampires. And what is really exciting - the movie comes out in May. Yay! What a fun girls' night out!!

Currently I am reading The Hunger Games. Not sure what I think about it just yet. It has definitely sucked me in and I am anxious to see how it ends. There are 2 more books in this series. I wonder if I will want to read them.

My neighbor suggested The Mortal Instruments. I am so glad she did. I loved them. They are about a group of people/angels called Shadowhunters. The Shadowhunters fight demons and "police" the downworld - vampires, warlocks, faeries. Ok so I might have some issues.

The 4th book in The Mortal Instrument series is City of Fallen Angels. It just came out. As soon as my neighbor finishes it she is loaning it to me. Can't. Wait.

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society is one of my all time favorites. It is a book written as a series of letters. I was amazed at how well the characters were developed in this format. It is set in the Channel Islands after the German occupation in WWII. My book club loved it and we even started making our emails fancier - greetings like Dearest Ladies of the Book Group. Such a charming book. I highly recommend it.

A friend told me that she read somewhere that Major Pettigrew's Last Stand was compared to the Guernsey book. I hope to read it after I finish The Hunger Games.

I probably should not admit this but I really just got into reading. I love children's literature, I loved reading aloud to my students, and I love sharing books with Sophie and Sam.
But for some reason I never enjoyed reading for pleasure.
My high school English teacher told me I just had to find what interested me.
I suppose she was right.
Who knew it would be vampires!?!

Love, love Emily Giffin, too. Think I read the first one on the way to get my middle child in Russia. :) Want to read the Guernsey one, but my ADD can't handle the letter format. Just got a sample of Major on the Kindle.
