OK, so I was awakened the other morning at around 6:30. Usually Sophie wakes me up by yelling, "Mama!!!" But that was not the sound I heard. I heard what sounded like someone knocking on my house - not the door - the house. So I got up and looked around. The lights were on, so I assumed Scott was already up. I went to find him. I went to the kitchen, turned on the coffee, and turned around and there was Scott standing out in the backyard. When he saw me he yelled, "Let me in!" Again, I thought he had gotten up early and I figured at this point he took the dog out and locked himself out. Well, that is kind of what happened.
Just a little background to help you understand how this could happen. We have two doors that go out to our garage - the first one has one of those locks that will allow you to turn the doorknob but remained locked. Between the 2 doors is the entrance to our playroom. Apparently Scott went out THE NIGHT BEFORE to take care of the dog and when returned could not get back into the main part of the house. He said he rang the doorbell and knocked on the doors and the house before finally resigning himself to accept that sleeping in the playroom was his only option. We have a tent set up for Sophie to play in so he climbed in there and laid on my yoga mat (I suppose he thought this thin mat would make the floor seem a little softer) and covered up with two of her doll's (tiny) baby blankets. I think he got a little cold.
Now you may be wondering why I did not hear him or why I did not realize he had not come to bed. Well I was still muddling through a pretty bad cold so I had taken some cold medicine that made me sleep. Since I have been sick, Scott had been sleeping in the guest room. So I just did not hear anything and when I woke up in the middle on the night and he wasn't there I just figured he had decided to sleep in the other room.
Now of course I have given him a very hard time about locking himself "out." Well, yesterday afternoon I went to the playroom to play with Sophie. As soon as I shut the door I knew that I had done it too. So there we were locked in the playroom. Fortunately it was 5 o'clock and I had my phone. Scott thought I was joking (making fun of him) when I called to see if he could come on home.
We have decided to replace that door knob.

This reminds me of the scene from National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. All Scott needed was some old home movies to watch and cry over! I have laughed about this until I cried. Especially in light of the fact that this is the Scott who saved the day by breaking into MY house when I'd locked my baby inside by herself.
Your poor husband. Glad you finally woke up and let the guy in.
Hehehe...we locked ourselves out of our house this summer and had to get a locksmith. Luckily, it was only a $50 lesson! Btw, Sophie is too cute in that Supergirl costume! She looks so grown up!!!!
Hugs,
Kerry
