Help Wanted

Have mentioned how I know nothing about little boys? I am one of 5 girls and I am girlie. This boy thing - I just don't know what I am doing.
So I walked into Toys R Us and absolutely had no idea what I was looking for but I knew that Sam had to get something for Christmas.
There I am walking aimlessly through the rows of toys. Looking up. Looking down. Completely confused and lost.
I kept finding myself in the dollhouse section and the everything around me is pink section.

Focus. Focus.
I ended up with a couple of Little People items: a car/garage thing and construction something another.
If anyone has any other ideas I would love to hear them.
We already have tools, firetrucks, blocks, basketball goals, and riding toys.
Help!

Daniel loved Shake and Go Cars, they even have a track for the cars. Also blocks and anything he can build with. We are also fans of hot wheels!! Have a wonderful Christmas!!

I'm the complete opposite. I have the hardest time with the pink stuff. OK, so...

trains and more trains (wooden or geotrax...they love it all)

the LP garage is still a fave so you did great there

go to target.com and search "busy ball popper" and "thomas megahouse" - those two items can keep a 2 year old boy busy til he's 3!

boy books like Mike Mulligan and Where the Wild Things Are (we have puppets to go with the wild things)

I could go on all day. The girl stuff has me baffled though.

You can never go wrong with sports balls - my two boys and all of my nephews get new ones every year. Target has a softer set of four that my youngest nephews are receiving. We still love our Hot Wheels/Matchbox cars, blocks, and Legos. Little People are a big hit as well. I finally gave our train table to my younger nephew to make more room, but my boys still pull the wooden track and trains out and set it up on the floor.

Good luck & Merry Christmas!

All I know is boy stuff! My guys liked the following at Sam's age: tractors, balls, mega blocks, tinker toys, mini keyboard, mini toy cash register or laptop, mini band set, and maybe think about a power wheels vehicle that is rechargeable for use when summer gets here. He could practice in garage or basement until he got good at it. You can get them that go slow. I hope this helps! You will learn how fun little boy toys can be! FUN times ahead!

My son at Sam's age loved Thomas the Tank and all the collector trains. He also loved little dinosaur toys. There is a Thomas the Tank water mat that he can color on and it is mess free. I can't remember what it is called. What about The Mickey Mouse Club House or Little Einsteins? What about the large lego blocks?

Griffin was obsessed with Thomas stuff and train tables at that age. We have the busy ball popper toy and it is fun too. I just looked into an inflatable ball pit for Gray (if you have the space) in the $40 range. Also we had a great little travel set called My Busy Travel Town that was soft, velcroed together, and had 3 cars to drive into the garages. He loved that thing.

mega blocks (huge legos), trains, aquadoodle, ball popper (we're on our second...we wore the first out!) these are a few of our favorite things... :0)

We still have lots of Thomas stuff to loan out (as our kids aren't playing with it right now but we want to keep it for the future) if you want to get it at Christmas and see if he likes that stuff. Just let me know and save a little room in your car!

Thomas the Tank - just get one real Thomas engine and then buy the much cheaper wooden tracks at target that connect with Thomas or Brio tracks.

Legos!

Our youngest got the big plastic roller coaster made by Step Two for Christmas a couple of years ago. It is still a favorite toy with all four boys.

Any kind of tent to hide inside.

Good Luck -- I'm looking forward to shopping in the girl isles for the 1st time this year!
