Happy Adoption Day Sophie!!

Four years ago today a judge in Kemerovo, Russia granted an adoption - probably just a regular day for her. But for our family it was much much more. That judge granted the adoption of little girl in Baby House #1 in Novokuznetsk.

We had waited so very long for this child. After years of infertility, treatments, and a country deciding it would no longer process adoptions this was a moment we had been waiting for.

I was finally a mother. Sophia Grace was officially ours.

There are no words to fully describe how I feel about this moment and my daughter. She came to me when I was so empty. I had a hole in my heart so large that I thought it could never be filled.

My heart now overflows with love for my sweet angel.

So on this last day of National Adoption Month I celebrate Sophie and Sam and adoptions of so many other children. My family was created through adoption and I am thankful beyond my wildest imagination to God for this incredible gift.

I will leave you with a slide show of Sophie from the beginning. I will warn you you have seen most of these pictures before because they are some of my favorites which are the ones I use on the blog.

I caught my breath as you described the hole because it amazes me, as I can tell it does you, how it is so completely filled now. And I think you see what I see, that our children seem to be a blessing to others too in a special way. They make others smile, laugh and feel better when they see them. Gifts, the truest of gifts.

Happy Holidays to your family. If you are in for Christmas, maybe Jennifer can let me know and we could meet just for a little while. Baxter is still fabulous.
