In honor of Earth Day I would like to share a couple stories about my children and their concern for our planet and it's natural resourses.
Several weeks ago I was reading The Great Kapok Tree by Lynne Cherry to Sophie. It is about a tree in the rainforest and the animals that depend on it. While a man who is to chop it down was sleeping the animals whisper in his ear the importance of this tree.
After the story Sophie told me her tummy hurt. I asked the obvious questions and her answer to each was no. Then it hit me. She is worried about the rainforest. And sure enough that's what it was.
Sam has been learning about saving resources too. The other day while I was letting the water run waiting for it to get hot he told me I needed to stop wasting water.
They are listening and learning from us. I hope my little tree huggers are always diligent in protecting our planet - not just on Earth Day but every day!

That really is great. My boys break down all our boxes from different foods and put it in recycling. something is working!
