One Before and Two After

This is what the paneling looked like before I started painting!!! Dark. Dreary. Dated.
And this is the paneling after. Bright. Fresh. Clean.

I painted the brick a dark purple. It almost looks black or dark gray. I love it.

This project took FOREVER!!!

I learned a few things ~

One - Absolutely sand your walls. Yes it will make a mess and take longer, but it is worth it in the end. I got a new hand held power sander out of this. Yay!!

Two - You can prime with a with a latex primer. I used Kilz sealer primer from Wal-Mart.

Three - Letting the primer sit for a day or two is helpful.

Four - Fill in the holes after you paint. This allows you time to see what really stands out and what did not get covered with paint. Then you can just go back and touch up.

Five - This painting project takes a long time. Just go with. It will get finished and you will be happy!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the painted paneling. This was a great decision!!
