This past weekend we made a trip to Tennessee for a couple of reasons. The first was my nephew's first birthday party. Drew really enjoyed the cupcakes and he was not the only one.
Dylan (Drew's big brother) thought they were good too.
Sophie loved her cupcake so much she saved a sprinkle on her forehead.
Sam actually ate 2 cupcakes. I think this was the first. Later after the presents had been opened he walked over to the cake table, looked around, and grabbed cupcake #2. Sneaky little guy - fits right in.
We also visited with some friends. Thanks Paul and Mary Ellen for letting us hang out by the pool all afternoon and thanks Randy and Gena for letting us camp out at your house. It was great to see everyone.
The other reason we made such a long quick trip was to take Sam to the International Adoption Clinic at Vanderbilt. We had taken Sophie there after she came home from Russia and wanted to take Sam. You meet with a psychologist, and occupational therapist, and a pediatrician. Other than the medical tests this clinic provides you with a baseline for you where your child is developmentally and physically. They also give you ideas about helping your family through the transition. They all felt like Sam was doing great. No one seemed concerned with his development at this point. Which is what we thought but it is nice to hear it from the professionals. They did weight Sam and he has gained another pound. Could it be because he ate 2 cupcakes or was it the 3 biscuits and gravy he ate at breakfast?
