Last week we went to the zoo. It was a pretty much a great trip. It was the first time I had attempted such an outing with both children. Because the fence rails were right at eye level I had to take Sam out of his stroller. I am sure you can now imagine this little 22 month old running wild at the zoo. One would think that he would have been the "difficult" child of the day but no it was not him. Sophie wanted to ride in the stroller, corrected me, complained when I did not jump when she said hop, cried when we left. I mean screamed when we left. We were on the carousel and when I told her we were leaving she wrapped her legs around the zebra she was riding and screamed, "I don't want to leave!" It was lovely.
One of the cool things about this zoo is you can feed the giraffes. Sophie LOVES to feed them. This is her favorite part. Sam on the other hand did NOT like the giraffe's LONG tongue.
He wanted to feed them. He would get their food in his little hands (the first time we did this he tried to eat it) and bravely hand it to the giraffe and as soon as the tongue came out Sam would cry and the food would be on the ground.
Here are a few pictures of our friends who enjoyed the day with us.

Right before the big meltdown.
We really did have a nice day. Sophie has always been a fan of the zoo. It was wonderful to see the zoo through Sam's eyes this time.
When we got home Sam and Sophie took a 2 hour nap. It was a great way to end such a crazy morning.
I think we will try something like this again.

I am glad to see that my children aren't the only ones who throw such fits! It's just the way it goes, I guess! They are so worth it though! Glad you had a good trip!
Hi Carrie,
I'm glad you guys had a great time at the zoo. I miss our trips we used to take.
I know you are headed to TN next week. Do you have any plans on Thursday at 10:00AM? Kerry is getting several of us old play group families together and we would love to have you join us. Feel free to e-mail me (insert my name @bellsouth.net) or call me.
Cindy
Looks like you guys had fun!!! I am jealous that we cannot feed the giraffes here! The kids are darling, as usual! Hope to see you guys on your upcoming trip!!!
Hugs,
Kerry
Congratulations on heading to the zoo with both kids (doesn't that sound awesome?)!
Carrie--
I've been a closet fan for quite a while now. Nauti and I have known each other FOREVER (her nieces and I are close)--which is how I first found you.
By fan I mean that I cried when I read that y'all had finally been able to complete your family with Sam. I've also laughed out loud at some of your "mommy" tales of the day.
And yes, we're in Richmond. If you know where Nauti's church is, we're literally right next door.
Thanks for popping by!
