What a Day!!

About 10 o'clock today...

CRASH!!!!

CRYING!!!

Sophie had fallen and cut her chin on the tile floor. I wanted it to just need to be cleaned and bandaged. Don't princess bandaids make everything better? But the more I looked at this gaping wound, the more I realized she probably needed stitches.

While this would be enough to send my child into hysterics, the real kicker was we were about to go get dressed for a playdate at the park. And now we were going to miss it. When I mentioned we were going to have to go to the doctor's office she began crying so hard and it was only a matter of time before Sam joined in.

So I loaded 2 crying children into the car only to find out that our pediatrician could not stitch such a large cut. So we were off to the emergency room. At this point Sam had stopped crying but Sophie's crying had intensified. Not because she was in pain but because she did not want to go to the emergency room.

11 o'clock...
Off to the emergency room we go. Luckily I was feeling optimistic when we left for the pediatrician's office because I grabbed the cooler that had the kids' lunches. I just knew I was over reacting and they would say it was fine and we could head to the park and I would have everything we needed. That was not to be but I did have food to feed to the kids at the hospital.

It was the fastest ER visit ever. 6 stitches and 2 hours later we were on our way home. All children had stopped crying and all was well with both my children.

1 o'clock...
Sam was napping, Sophie who had finally calmed down enough to eat was eating her lunch, and I was sitting on the couch.

What a day! I found your blog through Carla's. Just had to leave a comment to tell you that your children are adorable. Hope Sophie is over her ER trauma...and that your lock trouble is over!

Oh Carrie sorry you had to go through this. Glad to hear Sophie is all good now, although that play date will have to be re-scheduled.

I went through the same with Nick on May 5th. If you look closely at our blog you will see the scar above his right eyebrow... 5 stitches.

You know, every kid in the world has that scar in prob the exact same place. She will live - Mommy needs a spa day, however. Tell the husband I said so.

I am so sorry to hear about Sophie. I hope she isn't hurting anymore from it. I know how upsetting the entire ordeal must have been for you but it sounds like you handled it like a pro.

OMGoodness! I can't believe you never mentioned your ordeal when you were answering my 100 questions on Friday! (BTW, thanks again.)

I sure hope Sophie's chin is all good now. We've been through this several times. It seems chins and foreheads are the worst places for cuts. As one ER nurse told me, "They are very vascular".

I agree that it sure sounds like you handled everything like a pro!
