I must preface this post. This post is about the cute things Sophie says when we are praying. I realize while I think these comments are absolutely fabulous they are probably similiar to any comments made by a 4 year old.
Having said that here goes:
Our usual bedtime prayer consists of a thank you list to God and prayers for Sam and his caregivers. I am almost always the one praying with Sophie listening.
Well several months ago during our prayer she interrupted me asking me to tell God thanks for her bed. I thought great - this is an opportunity for me to throw in "and be with those boys and girls who do not have warm beds to sleep in." So I started "and God thank you for Sophie's warm comfy bed" and before I could get to the part about others not having beds Sophie said in a very deeeep loooww voice, "You're welcome."
Another time she asked me to ask God to make her cough feel better. So I did. "God Sophie is not feeling so good. She has a cough. Could you please make it go away?" To which Sophie looks up to the ceiling (toward Heaven) and yells, "Thank you!"
We try to make sure Sophie knows the reason we celebrate Christmas is the birth of Jesus -that Christmas is not about Santa and presents. So at Christmas we were praying and Sophie said, "thank God for Santa" I thought great - we are not doing a very good job with this the reason for the season thing. Then she said, "and tell God we are sorry Adam and Eve disobeyed and we are sorry about that sneaky snake." Well maybe there is some balance there.
It is challenging for me not to laugh when praying with Sophie.
I hope you enjoyed these little stories. I always smile when I think about them.

So sweet!
I am glad you are adding me. I am going to add you to my blog list. I meant to ask you about that the other day because I am having to do the same thing.
I am so glad to be able to keep up with you now!
By the way my mom got on your blog last time she was visiting. She told me to tell you she enjoyed it and that we sound so much alike :)
The "you're welcome?" is cracking me up! :)
Oh my, I needed a good laugh today! Sophie is just too darn cute! We miss you guys...I am in a new playgroup that just isn't the same. Hope to be seeing you at Nashville Int'l in the next few weeks!!!!!
Kerry:)
P.S. Yes, we are very , very sad with our American Idol obsession!:)
Carrie, saw your comment on my blog. Pls hang in there and know that this will all just be a part of the Story of Getting Sam. I remember, but only faintly, how it was to wait and wait and wait. And now, as they are all playing drums behind me, it all seems like a lifetime ago. As I tell Keva, it WON'T be like it was for John. It WILL end at some point and your children WILL be in your arms.
she sounds really cute! i guess i need to go back and read to find out where you are in the process for sam. i hope things happen soon!
