Why do kids love boxes so much?
Yesterday we received a large package. I carried it into the family room. Sophie could not wait to play with the box. She did not care much about what was inside it (a new carseat).
She pretended that she was the package (I had to open it and be surprised), she has pretended that she was a dog and it was a dog house, it has been an art desk and canvas, and who know what else. She has been totally entertained by the box.
Today when we got home from school I asked her if she wanted to go to her playroom and play with her toys. Her response was, "No I want to play with my box!"
Boxes really are the perfect toy for children. Think of all the money we could save!

Oh, don't I KNOW it - I have started selling Southern Living stuff again, and I get these big ol' boxes, and John in particular acts as if I got them JUST FOR HIM...his birthday is soon and I should get him a danged box.
