One Year Ago

One year ago today I was having lunch at McDonald's with Sophie and our friends Mrs. Courtney and her children Nolan and Sydney when my phone rang. It was Scott so I decided to answer it. As soon as I said hello Scott responded with, "It's a boy!" What - so soon - wait - how old his he - where is he? I couldn't get my mind to focus.

We had been given a referral for a little boy in Novokuznetsk (the same city as Sophie) and he was 9 months old. Amazing!

It has been one year since I first learned about my Sam. It is hard to believe how his adoption story unfolded. Just a few weeks after that phone call we were on a plane flying back to Central Siberia to meet another child. He was just as lovable and mobile (crawling not walking but still very mobile) then as he is now. Who could have guessed that it would be 10+ months before we would return?

But now he is home now and we are so very blessed.

We are so happy for your family! It's such a wonderful day to remember especially since that sweet boy is in your arms.

Such a sweet entry, Carrie. I am very happy for you.

Isn't it amazing when you look back to the day or days or weeks and months and years before everything changed? In just a few weeks, it will be three years since I first spoke to the kids' birthmother. Little did we know this time three years ago our lives were about to change like we never imagined it would.

Since our children have come into our lives, time has flown by. I'm sure you can relate!

Thanks for sharing your story with everyone. I'm enjoying your blog.
